RibbonUnwrap the Future of Sequoia Park Zoo

Golden PheasantYour gift will support projects that create the one-of-a-kind 21st century zoo we envision.

It has been an exciting and busy year at Sequoia Park Zoo. As we reflect on the past year, we have so much to celebrate and be grateful for.

We can be proud of having the oldest zoo in California, and in knowing that our zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Fewer than 10% of the approximately 2,400 animal facilities licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture are AZA accredited. And with over 70,000 visitors this year, our zoo is one of Humboldt County's top cultural institutions and tourist attractions.

The good news doesn't stop there.

As you probably know, the zoo was awarded a Nature Education Facility grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation. This grant is dedicated to bringing the charismatic wildlife of our local watershed—River otter, salmon, and Bald eagle—into the zoo to carry the message of conservation through creative and engaging experiences for children and adults. Through these animal ambassadors, visitors will learn how to be stewards of our environment.

What you may not have heard is that this highly competitive grant was awarded to only three zoos in the entire state; it's an honor to stand in good company with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Oakland Zoo. The bar is high and we are on target to break ground next summer.

There is a zoo of possibilities, and it begins with you.

Not surprisingly, there is a financial component to these projects that goes beyond the scope of the grant, so we are asking you to help us achieve our goals with a generous year-end gift.

Giving is Easy:

  • Give Online
  • Send checks payable to SPZF: P.O. Box 123, Cutten CA 95534
  • Or call 707-442-5649 to contribute over the phone

In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes with knowing you are helping to create an expanded zoo of possibilities, we would also like you to know that each new habitat and improvement made at Sequoia Park Zoo increases attendance. These new animal experiences will help assure the financial viability of the zoo for many years to come. Give

Sequoia Park Zoo is fortunate to be part of such a generous community.

In the spirit of giving and thanks, THANK YOU for all that you do to support the zoo.
