It’s That Time Again – Boo at the Zoo is Almost Here!Boo at the Zoo

October 8, 2012—Sequoia Park Zoo will host the 15th annual Boo at the Zoo festivities on Saturday, October 27th from 12-4 p.m.

Discover creatures slimy, slithery, creepy and crawly through games, crafts, and animal encounters at this frightfully fun family event. Kids’ activities will include the Snake Maze, Bat Trivia and Discovery, Spider Web Toss, Skull Identification and Scavenger Hunt, Slug Slime, Face Painting, and more! Treat the family to cotton candy, pretzels, caramel apples, snacks, and other twisted treats from the special Halloween menu at the Café and other food stations located throughout the Zoo.

Everyone coming to Boo at the Zoo in costume will get a free prize and can join the Costume Parade & Contest for a chance to win great Halloween-themed prizes. Costume categories include Most Awesome Animal, Most Spooktacular, and Most Original.

The animals at the Zoo get to celebrate Halloween too, with their very own surprise-stuffed Jack-o-Lanterns. The White-handed gibbons, Spider monkeys, Chacoan peccaries, Red pandas, barnyard residents, Ravens & Cotton-top tamarins will all get to enjoy fun treats at scheduled times during the event.

“Boo at the Zoo really does have something for the whole family,” says Zoo Foundation Events Coordinator Megan Stobb. “Young or old, it’s hard not to smile watching the animals discover their hidden treats, and there’s no age limit for the Costume Parade & Contest!”

All games and activities are included with general Zoo admission; Zoo members join the fun for free. If you’re not a member yet, this is a great month to join and enjoy the Zoo for free all year long! New members qualify for a 25% discount on their dues for the first year as part of the Zoo’s October Membership Drive.
