Sequoia Park Zoo is excited to announce the arrival of one of our newest species, the Red panda. Stop by and observe brothers Sumo & Shifu as they explore their home, munch on bamboo, and snooze amongst the tree limbs. Lucky visitors might even witness some keeper-guided panda painting!
Red pandas are native to the mountain forests of Western Asia. They are nearly extinct in the western part of their range because their forest home is being removed for development. Our panda pair is part of a worldwide effort to preserve this amazing animal for future generations through the cooperatively managed Species Survival Plan. |
