Take advantage of the gorgeous spring weather and stop by the Zoo's Barnyard to welcome our most recent addition, Bootsie, to the neighborhood! Bootsie is a Nigerian Pygmy Goat, a species well known for thier small stature and friendly persona.
Many thanks to our 2008 Zoo Sponsors. These businesses are helping proud supporters of the Sequoia Park Zoo, and through their genorosity, they are helping the community "connect with the wild inside them."
Starting Thursday, May 1st, the Zoo will be open from 10 am to 7 pm for the summer season. Come take advantage of these later hours and stop by the zoo in the evening for a peaceful stroll after school or work!

The Sequoia Park Zoo would like to welcome two of it's newest residents, Moon & Mercury, our Cotton-topped tamarins! These little guys have traveled all the way from Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX to make their home in Eureka.
Cotton-topped tamarins are a dynamic monkey species found only in the tropical rainforests of Columbia. When excited or alarmed, these tamarins raise the hair on the crown of their head and stand up tall to make themselves look bigger.
Stop by soon to get a little glimpse of the tropics right here in Humboldt County!

Bill passed away quietly TuesdayJune 26th 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the company of his Zookeepers and Veterinarian.
The zoo is open and the community, his family, is welcome to stop by and share your memories with the zookeepers or drop off a memento in memory of Bill our beloved Chimpanzee.
We have a page dedicated to Bill and the fond memories we all have of him. To share your memories, please write to bill@sequoiaparkzoo.net
We thank you all for your support and understanding at this time.
The Sequoia Park Zoo would like to welcome 5 Patagonian cavies “Squeaker”, “Candy Cane”, “Licorice”, “Apple”, and “Taffy”. These Patagonian cavies, also known as “Maras”, are the second largest rodent in the world, smaller than the Capybara.
These South American rodents may resemble a rabbit or a small deer but actually have more in common with a guinea pig—they even squeak like a guinea pig.
But don’t let their small stature fool you, when chased by a predator the cavies can run up to 20 mile an hour and jump up to 6 feet high.
To see these new zoo residents head towards the center of the zoo on your way to the barnyard. There you can spot them stretching out in the sun, enjoying the lush grass, or if you’re lucky you may just see them take a romp around their new yard!
