8th Annual Brew at the Zoo Will Benefit the Watershed Heroes Project
April 29, 2014, – Brew at the Zoo is back for the eighth year with another great evening of music, dancing, food, and of course the opportunity to sample microbrews from the North Coast and beyond. The 2014 suds safari takes place on Saturday, May 10 at from 5 to 9 p.m. Proceeds raised at this 21 & over only event will help complete the Watershed Heroes project.
“We’re so close to completing the new river otter, salmon, and bald eagle exhibits, we can almost hear the waterfalls running,” said Nicole Spencer, Director of Development and Communications for the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation, “Brew is a great way for the community to enjoy a fun night out and support this new interactive learning experience.”
Groove to live tunes from Vintage Rock N’ Soul and The Hip Joint as you sample craft beers from: Alaskan Brewing Co., Anchor Brewing Co., Eel River Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Co., Lost Coast Brewery, Mad River Brewing Co., Mendocino Brewing Co, North Coast Brewing Co., Redwood Curtain Brewing Co., Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and Six Rivers Brewery, with more waiting in the wings. The Zoo Café will be serving up delicious pub-style grub and be sure to save room for the always-popular beer-themed desserts, like car-bomb cupcakes and Guinness brownies! KSLG will also be broadcasting live onsite.
Ticket includes evening zoo access, souvenir tasting glass, live music, and as much beer as you can responsibly drink. All proceeds benefit the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation.
“Brew at the Zoo is a really fun event – in addition to the great music and drink, there will be souvenir glasses, t-shirts, hoodies, and more on sale to commemorate the evening,” added Hilary Lebow, Foundation Marketing & Events Coordinator.
Tickets are on sale now and available online, at the Zoo’s ticket booth, by calling (707) 442-5649, and at The Works* in Eureka, People’s Records* and Wildberries Marketplace* in Arcata. Tickets cost $25 for Zoo members and $30 for non-members (21 & over only – ID required).
Sequoia Park Zoo is limited to street parking and since we are located in a residential neighborhood, we encourage all attendees to carpool with as many fellow guests as possible and to consider using alternative transportation to help us alleviate congestion and ensure community safety. See more event safety information here.
Designated driver tickets are also available for $15 per person (no beer sampling), and cabs will be available outside the zoo to ensure everyone can get home safely.
If you are visiting from out of the area or simply need a place to stay in Eureka after the event, make sure to reserve a room at the Red Lion Hotel on 4th Street. Mention the zoo and receive a discounted rate. The rooms book quickly, so make your reservation as soon as possible.
