Get Ready for High-Style Delights at Sequoia Park Zoo’s 7th Annual Zootini Gala

July 18, 2013

This year’s Zootini Gala celebrates the iconic Bald eagle, one of the animals to be featured in the zoo’s Watershed Heroes project. Join friends and zoo residents at the annual high-style Sequoia Park Zoo fundraiser on Saturday, August 10 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Zootini will be a fun-filled evening with live music by Lost Coast Marimbas, a delicious dinner catered by Uniquely Yours, live and silent auctions, and up-close animal encounters with zookeeper talks—all against the backdrop of the beautiful Sequoia Park redwoods. The ever-popular “Monkey Bar”, hosted by Six Rivers Brewery, will be in full swing and feature mouth-watering “zoo-tinis”, including this year’s theme cocktail – the Regal Eagle – a delightful blend of gin, St. Germain, and grapefruit juice with optional Champagne bubbles. More traditional cocktails, as well as a wide selection of beers, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages will be on hand to satisfy every palate.

Bidding on items in the silent and live auctions is a great way to engage in a little competition with friends to support the zoo. Guests can also try their hand at the Lucky You! wine pull: purchase a ticket and pull out a bottle of wine – which could be worth anywhere between $5 and $100 or more – it’s all in the luck of the draw.

“This year’s Zootini marks a milestone for Sequoia Park Zoo,” said Nicole Spencer, Director of Development & Communications for the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation, which puts on the ritzy event every year. “We are getting close to breaking ground on the Watershed Heroes project, a one-of-a-kind experiential exhibit that will bring River otter, salmon and Bald eagles to the zoo. Fundraising efforts are ongoing and guests at Zootini will help ensure the Watershed Heroes project will be open by this time next year.”

The evening is expected to sell out and advance tickets are encouraged; tickets are available to purchase online, at the Zoo’s Ticket Booth, or by calling 707-442-5649. Advanced ticket prices are $60 members and $65 for non-members; tickets at the gate are $75. A limited number of tables for eight are also available for advance purchase at $500 and include reserved seating for eight, butler service, and name in the event program.

Most areas of the zoo will be open for exploration during the evening. So dress up in your finest and come walk among the animals to support our local zoo. Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 10 to connect with the wild inside you at the Sequoia Park Zoo, located at 3414 W St. in Eureka. This is a 21 or over event.
