Help Put The Giving Back Into Thanksgiving
November 22, 2013 – On the last Thursday in November, America gives thanks – and then goes shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation would like to suggest putting a little giving back into Thanksgiving by joining us in celebrating GivingTuesday™ on December 3rd.
Started in 2012, GivingTuesday celebrates philanthropy around the world. More than 6,225 organizations large and small, from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the Family Dinner Project, come together with hundreds of thousands of individuals to transform the way we think about, talk about and participate in the season of thankfulness. The Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation is asking everyone who believes in the Zoo and its mission to think about how they can give thanks, that day and every day, for the presence of such a special place in our little corner of the world.
“Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation is thankful to be part of a generous and supportive community,” says Chuck Dominick, Foundation President. “What the Zoo has been able to achieve, and what we will achieve in the coming years, is in no small part due to that generosity. Please consider making a gift on GivingTuesday™, December 3rd, to show support for the Zoo and the Watershed Heroes project. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible here over the holiday season.”

GivingTuesday™ is a simple idea, based around finding a way for families, communities, and organizations to join in acts of giving. The website is packed with ideas for ways to help nonprofits you care about in the season of giving. To keep track of what others are doing, follow #GivingTuesday on Twitter and follow GivingTuesday™ on Facebook – then tell everyone you can about what you are doing and why it matters.
