It’s Brew at the Zoo Time Again!

Seventh Annual Beer Bonanza to Benefit Watershed Heroes Project

April 23, 2013

Brew at the Zoo is back for its seventh year with another great evening of music, dancing, food, and the opportunity to sample more than a dozen classic brews from the North Coast and beyond. The 2013 suds safari takes place on Saturday, May 11 at Eureka’s Sequoia Park Zoo from 6 to 10 p.m. Funds raised at this 21 & over only event will go towards the new Watershed Heroes project, scheduled to break ground this summer, which will bring otter, salmon, and bald eagles to the zoo in 2014.

This year’s Brew at the Zoo will feature craft beers from breweries including:  Alaskan Brewing Co., Anchor Brewing Co., Anderson Valley Brewing Co., Deschutes Brewery, Eel River Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Co., Lost Coast Brewery, Mad River Brewing Co., Redwood Curtain Brewing Co., Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Six Rivers Brewery, and The Local Beer Bar. Live music will be provided by Asha Nan and Mojo Brown, and the Zoo Café will be serving up delicious pub-style treats. Be sure to save room for the ever-popular beer desserts!

The Redwood Coast Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers will also be on hand selling raffle tickets for a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity to hand-feed the Red pandas. Guests will also be able to purchase souvenir glasses, t-shirts, hoodies, and more.

“Brew at the Zoo is a great opportunity to support the Watershed Heroes project and have fun at the same time,” said Nicole Spencer, Foundation Director of Development and Communications. “We have our biggest ever line-up of breweries, so get your tickets early and skip the lines!”

Tickets go on sale Monday, April 22 and are $25 for zoo members, $30 for non-members (21 & over only – ID required) and include a Brew at the Zoo tasting glass, beer tasting, live music, dancing, and after-hours zoo access. Designated driver tickets are available at $15 per person, and cabs will be available outside the zoo to ensure everyone can get home safely at the end of the evening.

Tickets are available online or at the zoo ticket booth.
