Z.I.P. into Action

The Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation Needs Your Help!!

The Sequoia Park Zoo thrives from the support of our local patrons as we embark on a major renovation to better the exhibits for the animals that call the zoo their home.

The zoo has created a fund for the renovation project called the Z.I.P, or Zoo Improvement Project, Fund. When you contribute to this fund, you will be helping to create bigger and better enclosures for our animals.

Take a look at what the fund has helped us to do already.

In August of 2008, the Nancy Hilfiker Aviary was extensively renovated to include several improvements for the birds and visitors alike. Changes include re-routed walkways, plants with better cover and fruits and berries on which the birds can forage, the addition of varied water sources for each different type of bird, new interpretive elements, a new foyer for visitors, and more.

In February of 2008, the Gibbon enclosure was renovated to include natural substrate and live vegetation.

In March of 2007, a shift area for the Spider monkeys and Gibbons was completed.  The shift area was built to ensure the safety of the animals and the zookeepers.  The zookeepers can now set up large enrichment items, move furniture and make changes to the exhibits.  All these tasks before would have taken too much time to safely do with in the animals presence.

In October of 2007 Bill’s Garden, a quiet corner in which to reflect, enjoy the zoo and learn about Chimpanzees and the role they played at tour Zoo. This memorial garden also highlights 100 years of history and the future of the Sequoia Park Zoo…(more)

 What are we doing next?

We will be renovating the primate enclosures for the Spider monkeys. Some changes to the exhibit will include natural substrates, live vegetation, and more room for the animals to explore.

To make this expansion possible, we have created sponsor levels for those willing to donate and hope that these will make it a little easier to see exactly how far your donations will go.

Chimpanzee Champion: $1,000 or more

Gibbon Guardian: $500

Spider Monkey Sponsor: $250

Primate Patron: $50

We are also planning an extensive remodel to our flamingo habitat; funds raised at our 2008 Zootini benefit will go towards this project, but additional support is still necessary.

Sponsorships are needed to help make the primate renovations a reality. It is up to you to help. All donations are tax-deductible. If you are interested in this great opportunity, please fill out a copy of the Z.I.P. form and mail to:
