The Sequoia Park Zoo has been granted approval to re-open!

As of July 7th we will officially RE-OPEN to the general public. Several key measures including requiring staff and guests to wear face coverings, installing directional signage, encouraging social distancing between groups, increasing cleaning and sanitization practices, and closing certain indoor spaces and high touch areas have been implemented as part of our re-opening plan with the County. Please see below for more details on what to expect during your visit:

Per Humboldt County Health Department guidelines, as well as the safety of employees and susceptible zoo animals, we ask that you:
  • Maintain at least 6 feet distancing between guest social units.
  • Wear face coverings.
    REQUIRED for those who are 13 and older (unless medically prohibited) and strongly recommended for children 3-12 years
  • Utilize our new reservation system.
    Online reservations are required for ALL guests, including Zoo Members, to prevent overcrowding and limit the total number of guests at the Zoo.

Some changes around The Zoo

  • Added several new hand sanitizer stations throughout zoo grounds
  • Benches and tables spaced out for distancing
  • Drinking fountains closed (hydration fill-up open)
  • Portable hand-washing stations on grounds
  • Card-only transactions, no cash handling

We have temporarily suspended or closed the following attractions:

  • Waterplay area
  • Kids Koral room
  • Spiderweb climber
  • Contact Corral petting area
  • Eagle nest
  • Otter tube
  • Flamingo room
  • Most touch-based elements 
  • Suspension of keeper talks and other activities that encourage crowds to gather
  • Rentals and birthday parties temporarily suspended
